Airhead is a Zombie Strain that first emerged during Survival in 2022. Its name at the Volunteer Infection Program is "Happy" and it has a total of 7 stages. Following the theme of the previous two years, all of the 2022 strains are based on a different area of Subeta: the location that inspired Airhead is The Fair Grounds. This general theme would continue through the next year of Survival.
Airhead starts with a small spider floating on a balloon towards the avatar. As the spider jumps on its shoulder, the avatar immediately has an allergic reaction, blowing its nose as its face swells and reddens. As its limbs become discolored, the head inflates to an absurd degree, bright red like the spider's balloon. It then bursts, deflating and spinning away from the body just as a popped balloon would. The avatar's newly elongated arms reach upwards as a new head emerges in the form of a spider, the avatar's neck opening as the spider's toothy maw. In the final stage, the spider chomps down and its clown-like abdomen replaces the avatar's head, with the rest of the avatar's body now resembling a clown's suit.
